Pluto was not a planet at the time Holst wrote his symphony and did not become a movement. Evidently he was ahead of his time. Pluto was designated planetary status in 1930 and lost it in August of 2006. For a little more insight on it see my son's website Pluto is not a planet. When listening to the suite for the first time I couldn't bear to leave it out.
